You should train on your own games. Other people's mistakes teach you how to play well; your own show you why you play the way you do. The problem was that your games live on Chess.com and Lichess, and the trainer knew nothing about them: you could add one game at a time by pasting PGN.
Now you can pull your whole history at once — by nickname, no files, no copy-paste.
How it works
Profile → the Import tab. Pick the platform, type your nickname, choose how many recent games to fetch — 50, 100 or 300 — and press Import.
Then you can close the tab. The import runs on the server, not in your browser: refresh the page, come back from your phone, return half an hour later — the progress is there and the work continues. That matters more than it sounds: three hundred games take a while to download, and keeping a browser open for it is a bad deal.
What happens after the download
The games do not just pile up in a list. Right after the import the engine analyses them — on the server, not in your browser. While it runs you see a second progress bar and can do anything else. By the end every game has its accuracy, its mistakes marked, and the tactical patterns behind them.
In the Games section imported ones are obvious at a glance: an import mark, the platform, the date, which colour you played, both ratings. Sorting follows the date the game was played, not the date it was uploaded — history reads the way it happened.
Running it again breaks nothing
Import the same nickname again and no duplicates appear. Every game is recognised by its own key on the platform, and known ones are skipped. Better still, a repeat run fills in what was missing before: the platform, the ratings, the date played. So if you imported a hundred games a month ago and have played twenty since, just run the import again.
What it is all for
Your profile statistics are computed from your real games, not from the handful you played here. Accuracy by colour, losses by phase — opening, middlegame, endgame — and, most importantly, the recurring mistake types: a hanging piece, a fork, a pin, a discovered attack. One game says nothing about you. Two hundred say everything.
The idea is simple: an honest picture first, training second. Training at random is the most expensive way not to improve.
Honest limits
- It imports your games from Chess.com and Lichess — by nickname, through the platforms' public APIs.
- Up to 300 recent games per run. Need more? Run it again; duplicates will not appear.
- Analysing three hundred games takes time. The progress bar shows what is left, and you may close the page.
- Both ratings are stored with the game — they will matter once we start showing your progress over time.
It is live now: Profile → Import. You need an account so there is somewhere to keep the history.
